A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a missing man’s body at a former brewery.
The body of Andrew Bray, also known as Andrew Boltwood, was found inside the old Magic Rock site in Willow Lane, Huddersfield, on Wednesday.
West Yorkshire Police said initial inquiries suggested the 40-year-old had been assaulted prior to being reported missing on Tuesday, having last been seen at about 19:45 GMT Saturday.
The force said Mr Bray’s family had been made aware of the latest developments, adding that detectives were continuing to conduct inquiries at the scene.
Det Ch Insp Michael Cox said: “While a formal post-mortem is to take place, we do believe Andrew was assaulted prior to his body being found and, following inquires at the scene, are treating the incident as a murder investigation.
“I am appealing for witnesses and information and would particularly like to hear from anyone who saw suspicious behaviour in or around the former brewery site last weekend.”
He said local neighbourhood policing teams would be patrolling the area, adding: “Any very serious incident, such as a murder, obviously causes shock in local communities and I can assure residents a full investigation is underway into what occurred.”
