Ryan Sharp, 28, was due to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Monday after denying throwing the object at Elland Road during the club’s tie against Tottenham Hotspur on 4 October.
The BBC understands his case was discontinued after a police evidence review revealed he did not carry out the offence.
Mr Sharp previously pleaded not guilty to a single charge of throwing a missile onto a football playing area.
The BBC has contacted West Yorkshire Police for comment.
