West Yorkshire PoliceA total of 77 arrests were made during the fourth week of West Yorkshire Police’s annual campaign targeting drink and drug-driving.
The force said 26 of those arrested during Christmas week were for suspected drug driving, and 51 for suspected drink-driving.
Officers said since the start of the campaign a total of 266 arrests had been made.
West Yorkshire Police said officers would continue to increase patrols in the run-up to New Year’s Eve.
Among those arrested last week was a driver stopped during a joint operation with North Yorkshire Police at Boston Spa.
The motorist had been spotted towing a trailer in the outside lane of the M1. After being stopped, he tested positive for cannabis.
Another driver was stopped in Harehills, Leeds, on Boxing Day. He also tested positive for cannabis.
As he had no insurance his vehicle was seized by officers, a force spokesperson said.
