A former police officer is due to go on trial accused of indecently assaulting a woman in a custody suite almost 30 years ago, it has emerged.
Nigel Brown, 70, from Mirfield, is charged with three counts of indecent assault on a woman at Dewsbury Police Station on 2 October 1996.
He was charged by postal requisition on 5 September last year, West Yorkshire Police confirmed, and appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on 15 October.
He was a serving officer with West Yorkshire Police at the time, the force confirmed, with his trial set to take place at Leeds Crown Court on 31 August 2027.
