Emergency services remain on a major road into Hull after a man took to a rooftop earlier. Officers were called to Anlaby Road, close to the junction with Trenton Avenue, shortly before noon and remain at the scene.
A witness said a man was on the rooftops above the businesses between Trenton Avenue and Norland Avenue and began “ripping the chimney and tiles off”. He is understood to no longer be on the rooftop but emergency services remain at the scene due to bricks and tiles being on the road.
A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “Officers are currently in attendance on Anlaby Road, near the junction Trenton Avenue after we were called to reports of a man on a roof at around 11.45am this morning (Friday, 17 July 2026).”
A road closure was in place on Anlaby Road at the junctions with The Greenway and Norland Avenue, and motorists and pedestrians were advised to avoid the area. This has since been lifted but the footpath was still closed at 7pm.
