Police have launched an appeal for witnesses

A man is in custody following a suspected robbery in Hull which left an elderly man with serious injuries. Police were called to reports of a robbery in West Hull, where a man in his seventies sustained serious injuries. The attack took place on Bean Street on Wednesday night.
As the man was walking down the street at around 7.15pm, it is reported he was approached by another man who is believed to have forcibly taken his bag, causing him to fall to the floor.
Humberside Police said officers were immediately deployed, and the 73-year-old man was then taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries to his shoulder.
The police carried out initial enquiries, including getting witness accounts and trawling through CCTV footage. The enquiries led officers to identify a 42-year-old man who has now been arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Police confirmed that the man remains in police custody assisting with police enquiries, and launched an appeal for witnesses.
A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “We would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information including dashcam or CCTV from around the time the incident is believed to have occurred, and you haven’t contacted us already, to please come forward via our non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference 26*106444.
“If you wish to report anonymously, you can do so via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
