Firefighters tackled a blaze in a derelict working men’s club in Swinton.
Crews were called to Station Street just after 16:00 BST on Sunday, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
The fire caused significant damage to the rear roof of the building, which is opposite The Station pub.
At the height of the blaze, a fire service spokesperson said: “We are asking the public to stay away from the area and for those living nearby to keep their doors and windows closed due to smoke in the area.”
