Jane, who lives near the site, said there were at least 10-20 lorry loads dumping rubbish there each day.
“It is a nasty smell, I couldn’t describe it but it’s not nice,” she said.
“It was terrible, the lorries were coming continually, pretty big ones, the tipper lorries.
“At school times they just continued to go past, they were blocking the road. There just wasn’t room for them.
“They parked across the road, nobody could get past, it was absolute chaos.
“The lorries always had covers on so you couldn’t see in. It was a bit cheeky.”
Meanwhile Graham Smelt, who regularly walks around Cromwell Bottom, a nature reserve near the quarry, said: “We are planning to walk down there and we would rather not see rubbish and maybe smell the rubbish, it would be far better to see the countryside.”
