Little feathered friend has made himself ‘very much at home’
A post about a robin settling in and checking out the Christmas stock at an East Yorkshire garden centre has gone viral. Coletta & Tyson Garden Centre, at Woodmansey, has been delighted to welcome a little feathered friend into its midst.
Pictures of the handsome crimson-breasted bird have been shared on the centre’s Facebook page by followers of Robbie the Robin, as he has now been named. A spokesperson for the garden centre said: “We have a delightful robin, who has recently decided to set up home at our garden centre.
“We posted a brief story and photos on our social media a few days ago and it has just taken off. So many people/customers have commented on the post and said seeing him has made their day and they have shared their own photos of Robbie the Robin.”
The post has had 25,500 views on Facebook so far. “It has completely stunned us…we are a local, family-owned company, 70 years of growing, and seeing our community get so involved in what we thought was a simple story, has really made our week,” the spokesperson said.
A little birdie must have told Robbie that Christmas had come to Coletta & Tyson, which has its seasonal stock on display now. The Facebook post said: “Well, it looks like we’ve got ourselves a new member of the Coletta & Tyson team!
“Meet our little feathered friend, who’s been making himself VERY much at home around the garden centre. From checking out the Christmas trees (and auditioning for the role of tree topper) to keeping a watchful eye on our gardening supplies, this cheeky little chap certainly knows his way around.
“We think our little feathered friend has found himself a lovely place to call home, and we couldn’t be happier to have him around. Next time you pop in, keep an eye out for our cheeky little robin. He might just make a special appearance and add a little extra magic to your visit.
“It’s the little things that make Coletta & Tyson such a lovely place to be.” The centre later posted: “A huge thank you for all your lovely comments about our little resident robin.
“We’re so pleased he’s brought a smile to your faces and brightened your day, just as he does ours! Feel free to keep sharing your photos and comments.”
One person commented: “I saw him this afternoon helping out at the till” and another said: “We saw him last week in the outside cafe area helping himself to crumbs off table.”
Another follower said: “My favourite bird just love them.” One response said: “Saw the robin this morning, well, heard him first. It really put a smile on my face.”
