Call goes out to residents, schools, community groups and businesses to send birthday greetings

The team at an East Yorkshire care home say they are delighted and proud to announce the upcoming 105th birthday of one of its most cherished residents, Lady M. With full permission and support from her family, Westerlands Care Village, at Elloughton, is launching a community appeal to collect 105 birthday cards, one for every remarkable year of her life.
Born in 1921, Lady M has lived through some of the most defining moments in modern history. She grew up in the aftermath of the First World War, experienced the challenges of wartime Britain as a young woman, and witnessed the country rebuild itself through the 1950s.
She saw the arrival of household electricity, the first televisions, the birth of the NHS, and the transformation of everyday life through modern technology. To honour her life and legacy, Westerlands is inviting local residents, schools, community groups and businesses to send a birthday card message or drawing.
The care team hopes to create a display of love and celebration that Lady M can enjoy on her special day. Lauren Knight, registered manager at Westerlands Care Village, said: “Lady M is adored by everyone here.
“Reaching 105 is an extraordinary achievement, and we want her to feel the love of the whole community. Every card, every message, every drawing will mean the world to her.
“We would be honoured if people could help us reach 105 cards, a beautiful tribute to her 105 years.” All cards will be presented to Lady M during a celebration at Westerlands, attended by residents, staff and her family.
