The helicopter crash landed in a field outside of the city
The helicopter that crashed in Doncaster plummeted to the ground soon after take-off and landed in a field.
South Yorkshire Police raced to the field close to Ings Lane in Bentley, Doncaster, at 10.14am today alongside Yorkshire Ambulance Service and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.
An estimated 50 members of emergency services crew remain at the scene, with multiple police vehicles and officers on the site, with Ings Lane closed off. Officers from Air Accidents Investigation Branch are also at the scene and will be starting their investigation immediately.

The helicopter was believed to be just minutes into its flight from Retford Gamston Airfield when it crashed. The condition of the pilot and if there were any passengers is still not known.
The flight shows it was scheduled to leave the airport at 10am. Flight radar then shows the flight stopping at around 10.07am, before its altitude drops.
A spokesperson from Gamston Airfield confirmed they are aware of the crash and that it involved one of their members. In a short statement, they said: “We can confirm an aircraft based here operated by an onsite tenant has been involved in an incident. We’ve no further information at this time.”
Meanehile, South Yorkshire Police are at the scene with a large cordon in place blocking off access to the crash site. A statement from the police read: “At 10.14am today (Thursday 30 October), we were called to Ings Lane, Bentley, where it is reported that a helicopter crashed in a field.
“Officers and emergency services colleagues are in attendance at the scene. Ings Lane is closed while we respond to this incident. Please avoid the area and plan an alternative route where possible. Further updates will be provided when they are available.”

A spokesperson for the Air Accidents Investigation Branch said: “The AAIB has been made aware of an accident near Doncaster and has deployed a team to commence an investigation.”
