Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a person they want to speak to after a man suffered serious head injuries in an assault.
North Yorkshire Police said the victim, a man in his 20s, was punched by another man and fell to the ground near the taxi rank in Richmond Market Place at 00:40 GMT on Friday.
He remains in hospital in a serious condition, police said.
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone who recognises the man pictured, who police believe may have information that could help their investigation, to come forward.
