Boots has slashed the price of the Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Over Red Eau de Parfum to better than half price, making it cheaper than LookFantastic
Boots has slashed the price of an ‘intoxicating’ designer fragrance to less than half price in an offer that beats LookFantastic. Black Opium Over Red was originally £105 for a 50ml bottle but has been reduced to £49, whilst the same sized bottle costs £78.75 on LookFantastic.
Black Opium is renowned for its seductive coffee fragrance, with the Over Red variation incorporating cherry and black tea for a more autumnal feel. It begins with cherry and green mandarin before developing into a heart of jasmine, orange blossom and black tea.
The fragrance then settles into a comforting base of vanilla, coffee and patchouli leaf, reports Essex Live. Cherry is an incredibly sought-after note during this season, appearing in Phlur’s Cherry Stem (£99 for 50ml), Kayali’s Lovefest Burning Cherry (£73 for 50ml) and for those prepared to spend more, Miller Harris have released a cherry fragrance with Legato for £180.
Black Opium Eau de Parfum Over Red has achieved an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 at Boots from 2,111 reviews. When polled, 94% of reviewers confirmed they would recommend it.
One customer was delighted with the fragrance, declaring they couldn’t get enough of it. They commented: “I thought I had already found my signature scent until this perfume came along. Another penned: “Usually I find the Black Opium range quite strong for me personally and not as feminine as I would like in my opinion but this one is just the best from the range. It’s now my favourite perfume I own and that says a lot because I have a big collection. This perfume is strong but feminine and delicate at the same time, also long lasting and the bottle is so so pretty, again for me it’s the best from the collection.”

“I don’t get quite as many compliments on it as I always do when wearing the original, however. And I do not think it lasts quite as long for some reason. It seems as though it kind of wears off within a few hours. The original I can usually still smell the next morning in some areas.”
